Instead of confining orphaned animals to cramped cages, at The Dog Rose street dogs live in a 2-acre shelter park with constant contact with humans and their peers. School children learn all about the street dog problem on site, cute puppies play with young families at Sunday picnics in the great outdoors, and young adults from all over Europe pay their way as volunteer dog park rangers for meaningful, modern volunteer tourism.

HOW IT BEGAN
Noëlle Fueter-Stahel has ended her career in finance to devote her life to the dog-human love story.
Together with her husband, filmmaker Tobias Fueter, Anja Mecklenburgh, volunteer members in Switzerland and a professional veterinarian couple in Romania, she runs the charity Citydogs4Streetdogs. Hundreds of street dogs have been rescued in their own local shelter over the last five years and successfully placed on international markets.
WHAT WE DO
We are a Swizerland based non profit charity organisation with 2 main goals:
- reduce the sufferings, increase the quality of life of street dogs in Romania and in the same time contribute to the support of local neighboors in need
- show and share the happiness, learning and healing resulting from respectful and joyful interaction of animals in particular dogs and cats with human beings of all ages, to their mutual benefits.

rescuing, neutering, vaccinating, educating, preparing for adoption abandonned or brought animals, mainly dogs, in our shelter in Romania, 40 km out of Bucarest. Completed in 2018, it fits today for over 200 dogs, operated by a small resident team of veterinary and local and foreign volunteers

ORGANISATION

Our team in Switzerland (sponsoring, communication, digitalisation, administration, etc) works on a pure voluntary basis, as our international voluntaries on site in Romania. This means that over 95% of the donated amounts go to Romania for the financing of the activities (local salaries, animal food, vaccination, maintenance,etc) and the further development of the infrastucture. The the mid term objective is to become operationnally self suffisant i.a through innovative extension of the veterinary, educationnal, social media,, healing activities, local organic food offering, branded “souvenirs” objects for visitors, etc, more virtual and real adoptions, up to concept and workflow licencing.. “
